ishida: asahi.com（朝日新聞社）：夢が撮られちゃう？！　米研究員ら、脳活動から映像復元 - アピタル（医療・健康） 夢で見ていたことが、映像として再現できるかも――。そんなＳＦ映画みたいな技術を米カリフォルニア大学バークリー校の西本伸志研究員らのチームが開発し、米専門誌カレント・バイオロジーに発表した。 西本さんらは機能的磁気共鳴断層撮影（ｆＭＲＩ）を使い、人が動画を見ている時の血流の変化などの脳活動を記録。血流の状態と映像との関係をモデル化し、１８００万秒（５千時間）の動画を組み合わせて復元するプログラムをつくった。 ３人の協力者が映画の予告編を見ているときの脳活動の記録を入力したところ、その予告編によく似た動画ができた。ややぼんやりしているが、人物が映ったときは人物らしきものが現れた。ほかにも砂漠でゾウが歩いているシーンでは、黒い固まりが移動する光景が見えた。再構成された画像は、http://newscenter.berkeley.edu/2011/09/22/brain-movies/で見ることができる。
